Feature Friday: Brittani Vecchia

Check out how Brittani Vecchia (PHHS '18), a junior studying Psychology and American Sign Language at Caldwell University, is managing her hybrid semester from home!

What has been a challenge of school thus far? How have you been able to overcome it?

"The biggest challenge has been maintaining a schedule. I like to plan things out in advance, but my schedule is constantly changing. Some of my in person class meetings are switched to virtual last minute, and then the next week they’re in person. Its been difficult to balance my homework and school around 2 jobs (one on campus and one off campus). My work schedule for my campus job is constantly changing and adjusting. One of the ways I have over come this is by taking it one day at a time. I know I’m not the only one dealing with daily changes and unpredictability, so I just go day by day and try to always be a little ahead ahead with my homework and class work."

What piece of advice would you offer a current freshman in college? (ie- how to make friends virtually, how to create study groups, tips for working with profs/students online)

"If you’re taking in person classes, take advantage of the opportunity to get to know your professor. One of my classes has 5 people in it: 2 in person (including me) and 3 online. I have taken the opportunity to become close with my professor and form a relationship with her. I already know that if I ever need something (a letter of recommendation, advice on a class, or a mentor), I will be going to her in the future."
