Kimbo Love, PHHS' 20 and Oberlin College '24

Updated: Nov 15, 2020

Senior Spotlight, June 20

My name is Kimbo Love, and I just graduated from Parsippany Hills High School! Over the past four years, I have taken various honors and AP classes, in which I've found some of my closest friends and developed a passion for history and different cultures. I participated in many PHHS clubs and activities, primarily in the music program. I joined Marching Band freshman year, and before the first week of school ended I felt at home with the music students and staff. After four seasons, I held two leadership positions in the band, Section Leader and Equipment Manager. I also played solos in the show performed at competitions and football games.

"Over the past four years, I have taken various honors and AP classes, in which I've found some of my closest friends and developed a passion for history and different cultures...Next year I will be attending Oberlin College and Conservatory to study music performance for viola and anthropology, bringing memories and lessons from PHHS with me."

In addition to PHHS Marching Band, I performed with the PHHS Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, and Chamber Ensembles. In the fall, I was elected President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and had the joy of sharing music with elementary and middle school students. From these activities, I have been nominated for and accepted into NJSMA Area Band, Region Orchestra, and All-State Orchestra. For my participation, I was awarded the Leonard Bernstein Award for musical creativity and passion. I also participate in PHHS Green Team, French Club, and Civics and History Honor Society. Outside of school, I perform with the Crescendo Suzuki Studio, New Sussex Symphony, Harmonium Choral Society, and Grace Church Choirs. Next year I will be attending Oberlin College and Conservatory to study music performance for viola and anthropology, bringing memories and lessons from PHHS with me.
